Marks obtained in the Tier-1 marks are used in the preparation of Final Merit.
Moreover, only those candidates who Qualify the Tier-1 exam can appear for Tier-2 Exam.
Here is the Exam Pattern of Tier-1 Exam
1) In CGL Tier-1 Online Exam (Computer based), there will be 100 Questions carrying 200 marks with overall composite time of 75 minutes.
2) While answering questions, be very careful, as there is penalty of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer.
As you proceed to Tier-2 stage, the competition decreases but Difficulty level of the Paper increases.
1) Tier-2 has 4 Papers and each Paper is of 200 marks. While Paper-1 and Paper-2 is compulsory for everyone, Paper-3 is for those who have applied for Statistical Investigator and Paper-4 is for those, who applied for Assistant Audit Officer
Note : For Paper-2, negative marking is 0.25 for every answer, while for Paper-1, 3 and 4, negative marking is 0.50 for every incorrect answer.
Tier-3 comprises of Descriptive Paper and this is a New introduction to CGL Exam. Prior to 2016 CGL Exam, there were Interviews, but from 1st January, 2016, Government has decided to do away with Interview for Non-Gazetted posts and therefore, SSC had introduced Descriptive Paper in CGL Exam.
Descriptive Paper is basically designed to check the candidate's writing skills, which is a must for Government Jobs.
Note : Paper is to be attempted in English or Hindi only. Part of Paper written in English and Part in Hindi, will not be evaluated.
